The colored belay card system exists to assist Climbing Wall Supervisors in monitoring climber and belayer safety. Once a belayer’s skills have been assessed, they will be awarded a yellow, green, or blue card based on their performance. Belay cards must be worn anytime when belaying. Belay skills will be assessed once each academic year.
Belayers with a Yellow Card have completed the Belay assessment and it has been determined they need improvement on specific skills. Belayers with a Yellow Card may belay only when an Adventure team member is on backup belay. Belayers with a Yellow Card will be signed off each day they come in and belay successfully (once per daily visit).
