The Adventure program provides indoor rock climbing experiences and instruction at the 47-foot climbing wall and bouldering cave located at the Student Fitness Center. We have times available for open climbing and assisted climbing through staff belays.
Participants interested in belaying at the climbing wall must pass a Belay Skills Assessment which may be administered during open climbing hours. Assessments must be renewed each academic year. For more information view our climbing area rules.

Belay Workshops
Learning to belay is an important part of the climbing experience. These workshops teach participants about equipment, knots, climbing skills, belay technique, catching falls, and lowering climbers.
Interested in a workshop that we offer, but cannot make the scheduled date? Custom workshops can be scheduled by calling (309) 438-8417 or emailing Adventure@illinoisState.edu.
Black Light Climb
Experience rock climbing like you never have before! Registrants will have the opportunity to enjoy an empty SFC lit only by blacklights, illuminating themselves and our climbing wall in glow-in-the-dark and neon designs. Top rope and bouldering are available, accompanied by a soundtrack designed to enhance your climbing experience!
Adaptive Climbing
Adaptive climbing is provided by request and at several scheduled events each year. Adaptive climbing provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to climb the indoor wall. Students can contact Student Access & Accommodation Services for adaptive climbing needs. Contact Adventure@illinoisState.edu with any questions.
